Our daughter, Kennedy showed her poultry at our local fair and placed Grand champion Standard Size Hen with her Faverolles Hen. This was her first year showing poultry. She placed 1st in her first heat, Continental Class. Then overall - Grand Champion Standard Size Hen! Yeah!

Salmon Faverolle Chicken Breed Information

Originating in France in the 1850's, the Salmon Faverolle is a good dual purpose chicken being both a good layer and a large size bird. The Salmon Faverolle Chicken has a calm and docile personality which makes them a favorite chicken for backyards. Their characteristics include beard, muff, 5 toes and feathered shanks.
NOTE: Webbed front toes or curled front toes can occur in 1 of 300 chicks and is a breed issue…. (it comes from the breeding for the fused back toes). This breed is not as durable as baby chick breeds and requires several days of close attention after arrival . As chicks they are not as vigorous as some other breeds and dehydrate faster when mailed as baby chicks.
