New Hampshire Chicken Breed Information and Chicken Facts * Heritage Breed
New Hampshire Chicken Breed Information:
The New Hampshire chicken breed was developed in 1915 from a strain of Rhode
Island Reds brought into New Hampshire state. This lighter colored red chicken
was later recognized as a distinct chicken breed in 1935 and sometimes called a
New Hampshire Red . Our New Hampshire chickens originated from the "Newcomer"
strain which was an egg laying strain and has been improved upon yearly on
Cackle’s own chicken breeding farm. Cackle Hatchery benefited from the
experimental trap nesting station located in Mountain Grove Missouri in the
1960’s which was sponsored by the Missouri state department of agriculture .This
chicken breed will lay very large brown eggs for you to eat or eggs for sale and
is one of the great chicken heritage breeds in the USA. If you wish for a
chicken that is calm, matures early, lays good, and is of heavy weight, then the
New Hampshire chicken is what you're looking for. Watch a short New Hampshire
