Cackle Hatchery Annual Silent Poultry Auction

Join us to benefit youth poultry groups! Every year during the Chicken Festival, we auction off chickens with proceeds going to organized youth poultry groups. This is a traditional silent auction with bid sheets — come browse the beautiful birds and be a part of the bidding for a good cause.

Silent Poultry Auction Guidelines

Registration

A registration table will be set up near the auction area. To participate, bidders must sign up and provide their name and phone number (kept private). Each participant receives a bidding number to use throughout the auction. Bidders must be present in person to register and bid — no phone or online bids (Facebook, etc.) will be accepted.

Bidding Process

Each bird will have a designated bidding sheet placed at or near its cage with the breed listed for clarity. Bids are accepted Friday and Saturday, leading up to the auction closing at 4:00 PM on Saturday. No changes to bids are allowed after the auction closes. A list of all birds available for auction will be posted for reference.

Auction Closing & Winner Notification

Winners are contacted immediately after the auction concludes. If the winning bidder cannot be reached within a reasonable time, the next highest bidder will be contacted.

Bird Pickup

Winning bidders must arrange transportation for the bird(s) won (cage, crate, box, etc.). Limited transport options may be available for purchase at the storefront, but they sell quickly.

Payment

Accepted forms of payment include cash and credit card.

Auction Proceeds

All proceeds support youth poultry programs, including donations to the Youth Exhibition Poultry Association (YEPA) and sponsoring youth awards at various poultry shows. FREE event, FREE parking!
