Description
The Indian Runner duck is a favorite breed of many people. It is a lightweight duck which matures at about 4 -4 1/2 lbs for the drake and 3 1/2 – 4 lbs for the hen duck. The noted feature is a long and sleek body with an upright carriage. They are a very good egg laying variety with the Fawn and White Runner being the most popular color of duck. They are native to Malaysia and this duck does not waddle, they run. Admitted into the American Standard of Perfection in 1898, they are very active and constantly search for vegetation and insects to eat. They have a strong flock instinct and startle easily.

Wonderful
My 4 fawn and white runner ducks are a joy to have, they are now just starting to lay eggs but with the very cold weather that we are having I think they have stopped laying. They are fun to watch in the snow, they run and make lots of noise playing in it. Love them, will be ordering more ducks in 2020

These ducks are great!
I ordered runner ducks 3 years ago and again this spring. These ducks are great layers and a lot of fun to have around. They can’t fly as well as chickens but they can a little and, at our place, they wander pretty far. They laid eggs all winter last year when my chicken didn’t. Their eggs are pretty big and great for baking.

Cackle ships healthy birds. Happy with the sexing and shipping of my runner ducks. One male and eight females. Runners are laying eggs for us now and are a great addition to the farm. They lay while the chickens moult and it is wonderful to have year round eggs.

Fawn and White runner duck hens
I received 9 Fawn and white runner ducks had ordered 10 but I am happy with the 100% accuracy for the 9 they sent most hatcheries probably wouldn’t have been honest and purposely would’ve sent a drake, all came alive and are all still living. Wish I would start seeing some eggs but I bet by mid March I will be drowning in eggs. Also ordered 32 Rouen ducks got 34 sent 1 dead upon arrival. Also ordered the hundred head frypan special and got 3 free black swedish ducks which were out of this world flavorful. Was considering to make Rouen ducks my go to farm yard bird but now I think I should’ve went with black Swedish all the way. the is the old heritage breed cockerels were also much more flavorful then the market broilers in the store best price on this sort of package, I will be ordering them again as well. Unfortunately my guineas were heavily targeted and I believe all 35/32 received are now extinct.

Dead Ducks
I ordered five Indian Runners along with some chicks (I think 15) Anyway, 4 or 5 were dead on arrival, most of the rest died shortly after. One duck survived, and 7 hens. I’ve NEVER had this happen with any other hatchery. They offered to refund my credit card, but that never happened. I would not buy from them again.

Ordered 15 Chicks, and 3 fawn and white ducks. Received 17 chicks and my 3 ducks. All of them HEALTHY and beautiful. 6 days old and thriving like crazy. Love them all, will be getting more of everything next season. I also want quail but they are out of them for the rest of the year. My order of ducks arrived this morning. Ordered 5 female and 1 male fawn and white runners and received one extra. The male was marked, thank you. Also ordered 4 Ancona ducks. All arrived healthy and very active. They have no problem finding the water and feed. I know I will enjoy having them running around the yard when they are old enough. Thank you Cackle Hatchery. Sweet little babies
Ordered two of these with my order of goslings, black runners, chicks and turkeys. They were a little sluggish and cold but once we got them warmed up they perked right up. We received them this past Wednesday, they were a little skittish compared to the others but they have quickly warmed up to us and now come to us to be held. Such little sweeties, these two are our bashful littles and that’s ok. I absolutely adore them and they love their smashed peas. As always cackle has done well!!
