Description

We do not offer any guarantee/replacement/refunds on shipments of Rare Ornamental Pheasants.

As their name implies, Ornamental Pheasants are visually beautiful birds. Exhibiting a wide array of varying colors and patterns, all of these birds are true trophies. Similar to the standard Ringneck Pheasant in shape and behavior, the Ornamental Pheasant varieties show off even more amazing plumage. With rich striped and speckled patterns in red and gold, bronze and white, silver and blue, and more, Ornamental Pheasants resemble peacocks in the intricacy and beauty of their feathers. Introduce these to your gamebird range and show hunters a beautiful bird like they have never seen before.

Possible colors include Red Golden, Yellow Golden, Dark Throat, Splash, Sunset and Lady Amherst.

Don’t order these. Cackle doesn’t offer a refund or replacement because they know they are going to die in shipping. They put in a heat pack, in July, and shipped these birds without grow gel or lettuce. The birds arrived dead, except five in poor condition, which didn’t make it five hours. Cackle’s staff recommendation was to put the remaining few birds in a brooder at a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Let me emphasize this, the staff put a heat pack in that small shipping box full of birds, taped over the air vents, and shipped them! The ambient temperate in July over their path of travel was in excess of 90 degrees for both days of transit. The birds arrived dead and the few alive were suffering from severe heat stress. Then the staff recommendation was for a brooder temperature hotter than the average incubation temperature! And Cackle will stick to the no replacement policy—I asked for some hatchery surplus birds and I would pay the shipping—I received an authoritative and condescending “no.” As if the request was absurd, asking for some surplus chicks when I just paid $300 for a box of dead birds. Cackle knows the birds will die, don’t waste your money. The hatchery won’t waste theirs.

I ordered guinea fowl. I love them for pets and insect removal. So far I have only lost 1. They have the most precious voices and sleep all stretched out. I am very much satisfied with my order. In fact, I am ordering today. Thank you

    quite fun to watch

They are still a bit immature so not real sure what has survived. We lost 2 chicks within 24 hour of arrival then two more the first week. All of the same variety (dang!) after they became pretty good flyers (about 6-8 weeks) moved them to a large outdoor cage. One poor fellow (Egor) developed wry neck and never recovered. He lasted many weeks and oft times we thought he might be ok…just not quite right. We lost him about a month ago and two more hens last week (I think it was aggression from others). But all in all they are are real pleasure to watch with fun little noises they make. They have a way of flitting around makes them look like acrobats. Can’t wait till full colors come out. I would give a full five but since the nature of pheasants is to run off if they can so must be always caged.
