Description

The French white Marans chicken has impressively pure white plumage. It is the friendliest and gentlest of all the Marans varieties.

This breed originated in the 1960s in France as a commercial meat bird. Many gourmet chefs still prefer them over other breeds.

At one time Cackle Hatchery® maintained a flock of French white Marans. After several years of breeding we could not bring the shell color of their eggs up to standard. Because we felt our customers would be unhappy with the shell color of the French white Marans chicken, we discontinued the breed.

You may like one of our other Marans color varieties. For more information about any of our Marans chickens, feel free to contact us.
