Our strain of French Black Tail Buff Marans Chickens are still in the development stages but most generally the whole plumage is strong in fawn color towards a reddish brown color. The head and the hackles are a little lighter with golden color affect as well as the lancets on the saddle. The lancets can sometimes be a little darker. Hackles can have a faint black outline on feather edge end. Shoulder and wing covers are darker which appear to be a strong velvet effect in auburn color. Wing primaries have black exterior barbs, almost to the end. Black tail with brown borders and pinkish white shanks with salmon color feathers.
Disclosure NOTE: This color pattern is in the first stage of selective selection of color in 2017 and we cannot guarantee color uniformity at this time.
Sexing Note: Most of our breeds we can average 90% accuracy on gender sexing. However, with the French Marans breed it is more difficult for the vent sexor to make this determination, so for this breed our guarantee is 75% accuracy.
