- Assorted Peafowl Chicks
We do not offer any guarantee/replacement/refunds on shipments of peafowl chicks.
The Peafowl Cock has a long train of feathers that are uplifted into a fan position during courting. The hen does not possess the long train of feathers. They are good foragers on the ground but like to fly up into high trees to roost. They are hardy and easy to keep. Peacocks eat about the same feed as pheasants. Peafowl are slow to mature and will start laying around two years of age. The Peacock is the national bird of India and is known all over the world as a beautiful creature. The Peacock is a male and the Peahen is a female. Some like the very loud call of the male but some think it sounds very scary and neighbors have been known to complain.
Cackle Hatchery® offers for sale Peafowl chicks as hatchery choice (no choice of color or sex). They are sold only as straight run (not sexed) peafowl chicks and we will try to give the best assortment as possible at the time of shipment. Hatchery Choice can include one or any of the following Peafowl: India Blue Peafowl, Purple Peafowl, Spaulding Peafowl, India Blue Peafowl, Black Shoulder Peafowl, White Peafowl, Opal Peafowl and Pied Peafowl. Great company Review by C Gardner
We ordered 4 assorted peafowl and where surprised when a few chickens where included to keep them company. Great shipping, super fast response when I contacted them via email about shipping. Post office tracking said it was going to take 2 additional days. Birds arrived on time and are beautiful. We had one with splayed leg but we have braced it and he is doing wonderful. This company is exceptional and I will definitely ordered from them again in the future. (Posted on 6/15/2019)

Thank you for your advice! Review by Darlene
My 2 pea chicks I received from your hatchery in the spring are doing great. Just one question, at what age do you suggest switching young peafowl from starter to grower feed? (Posted on 9/4/2018)
Excellent experience Review by Beth
I ordered 2 peachicks. I received them plus 8 assorted chickens to keep them company and train on feed and water. I lost one of my peachicks in the first 10 days. It was tragic, and I do not know what happened to him, but all the others are doing amazingly! The 8 chicks are so hearty, and the peachick and I have made great friends! I love the little guy so much :) I love Cackle Hatchery, and refer everyone to you guys. Even though we had the loss, I am still 100% satisfied! Soetimes birdies just don't make it. it was made very clear there is no refunds for peachicks and that they are very hard to raise from chicks. That is a gamble I was willing to take. Thanks Cackle Hat (Posted on 7/12/2018)
Great service! Review by MTMel
Great website, so many choices, and instructions & info are easy to understand when ordering. All of my peachicks arrived alive and active, along with a nicely diverse mix of bantams and a couple extra regular chicks (and not the usual plain white mystery chickens you get from other hatcheries) to keep the peas company. Very happy with my experience! (Posted on 6/8/2018)
All Chicks and Peafowl are doing great! Review by Chris
Absolutely healthy birds. Took the risk of ordering peafowl and am very pleased with the gamble. Thank you very much. Couldn't be happier. (Posted on 6/15/2017)
awesome gamble Review by Rozy
Thank you for posting the complaint letter! I understand the frustration of being out 51 hard-earned bucks, with nothing to show but hard effort and heartbreak. Something we need to consider when we order, huh? I also understand that you are unable to do anything about it. But what beautiful creatures! And I've always been very happy with the quality of guineas & chickens you've sent... so... I'm going to take the gamb.e (Posted on 1/28/2017)
Very satisfied:) Review by Deborah
I have ordered for 3 years now. Although being shipped so young, sometimes one doesn't make it. However; my peacocks an peahens are beautiful and I will continue to order. Thank you! (Posted on 1/4/2017)
Our Apologizes Review by Jackie, Customer Service Cackle Hatchery
Peafowl as stated in the description is sold with no guarantee of refund or replacement. I am sorry you felt that we were unsympathetic towards your situation but there just wasn't anything else we could do. (Posted on 7/6/2016)
Peacocks Review by Mark
I put my order (Invoice#189661)in months ago, I was told I would receive my birds in July 2016, I was okay with that schedule. I took a phone call from the hatchery regarding the possibility of an early delivery schedule, I accepted. I received the birds July 1, 2016 at my local post office. 12 birds total, 9 assorted chickens, and 3 peafowl unsorted also. 2 brown in color and one yellow. I assume they are different breed, no problem. I do notice the yellow bird is weak, but with a good nature, meaning it would follow my hand around and would allow to be touched, petted. I notice the bird continually getting weaker, I trained it on water and feed, it was eating and drinking until the end. But it kept getting weaker as time went on, it died as so often happens with little birds. The thing is this one is a $51 bird I bought thinking I had ordered healthy birds, and I may have, who knows what happens to these birds in transit. Thing that I am miffed about in I call and am told tough luck. Well Cackle you want to be like that, I accept that, I do not have to spend my money with you, Savor those $51, I learned my lesson.
I understand why my order was fast tracked ahead of schedule now. (Posted on 7/5/2016)
